David A. Pyles, PhD is a doctoral level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) and a licensed psychologist practicing in Los Angeles, California. He received his PhD in Psychology from the Florida State University in 1992. He took a position as Senior Behavior Analyst at Howe Developmental Center, playing a critical role in its resolving a U S Department of Justice Consent Decree in the two years minimum duration possible. He then was promoted to Senior Behavior Analyst of the Illinois Division of Developmental Disabilities. In that role, Dr. Pyles developed and oversaw systems related to behavior intervention, including: peer reviews, functional assessment of behavior, developing behavior support plans, and conducting Behavior Intervention Committee reviews. He also coordinated the Psychology Task Force, which developed standards of practice, provided expert consultation for people with severe behavior disorders, and developed training materials and systems to teach MA-level practitioners to develop treatment plans consistent with the standards of practice in the field. Dr. Pyles was instrumental in creating and building the MA and PhD programs at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He served as Interim Chair at the Los Angeles campus for eighteen months. He is now Associate Professor of Behavior Analysis, where his teaching and research interests include functional assessment/functional analysis, organizational behavior management sports applications, stimulus equivalence, staff training, and parent training. He is President of Pyles & Associates, a consulting company that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities and organizations seeking to improve employee performance. He is also President of Panda Learning Services, an agency that provides ABA services to children with autism and their parents.
